Welcome to the Pan African Vocational College!
The Pan African Vocational College came into operation in 1998 due to public outcry in our town of Nyahururu because of large numbers of primary and secondary students who did not qualify for the next level of education. At this time primary education was not free and four-year secondary education was beyond the reach of many families. Their desire was for their children to have a skill that would lead to stable employment.
Over 500 students have gone through one or more of our classes, and many have gone on to get employment or even start their own businesses. One student in the class of 2008 completed and passed the national examination for mechanics. He joined the military and because of his certificate was selected among an elite few to travel to China to upgrade his skills with emphasis on military machinery. We feel that as an organization, we have assisted in the education sector by providing quality education to the future of Kenya. The country has a deficit in that we don’t have enough high schools and universities. In 2008 695,000 students sat for class 8 examinations to get into high school, but only 60%were placed. On the high school side, the results were more disappointing. Of the 343,000 seeking university seats, only 10,000 were placed. Pan African vocational college does provide hope for many who are within our district.
We provide high quality, affordable education as well as boarding facilities and meals for our students. Day and part time classes are offered as well.
To provide college age students with usable skills through affordable, high quality vocational education set in a Christian environment in areas fo work that are relevant to the working environment of Nyahururu and Kenya as a whole.
